– Ola, what do your Finance and Accounting studies give you? Have they inspired you to pursue such broad activities in this field?

– I have long been interested in entrepreneurship, socio-economic geography, and broadly understood economics and the economy. That’s why I chose to study Finance and Accounting at the University of Gdańsk to expand my knowledge and gain a stable, concrete future profession – an accountant. The knowledge gained in various subjects has certainly inspired me to increase my extracurricular activities. A key starting point was meeting Dr. Piotr Pisarewicz, who encouraged me to join the Finance and Insurance Scientific Association and motivated me to take further action.

– You are the president of the Finance and Insurance Scientific Association. What challenges and satisfactions come with this role?

– Since becoming president in March 2024, I have already experienced several events and challenges. The role involves recruiting new members, encouraging student participation, finding inspiration, and coordinating event organization, from inviting speakers to promoting events and post-event coverage. However, the satisfaction is immense – gaining valuable experience for future employment, building professional and social connections, and increasing my recognition within the faculty and personal branding.

– You are also an ambassador for the Ministry of Finance and the Progress Accounting Competition. What are your responsibilities and benefits from these roles?

– As an ambassador for the Ministry of Finance, I promote their activities, job offers, internships, competitions, and educational programs on social media. I organized a trip to the Ministry for our association members and a lecture on the bank tax. As a PAC ambassador, I promote the accounting competition and participate myself. Both roles enhance my marketing and creative thinking skills and boost my presence on LinkedIn.

– You've co-organized many events like conferences, job fairs, and training sessions. Which was most important to you?

 – The most significant was organizing the open lecture on the bank tax and the Ministry Ambassador stand, managing everything from LinkedIn contacts to event promotion while balancing studies.

– You volunteer at the Regional Volunteer Center in Gdańsk. What drives your social involvement?

– Volunteering reflects selflessness and contributes to the common good. It allows meeting interesting people, participating in valuable events, and staying active.

– What are your career plans after graduation?

 – I plan to pursue a master’s in Accounting-ACCA at UG, obtain further qualifications, consider postgraduate studies in Forensic Audit at SGH in Warsaw, and start working, ideally in an auditing firm or an accounting office.

– With passions like swimming, horseback riding, and traveling to Scandinavian countries, how do you balance everything with your studies?

– I find learning easy, attend all classes, and use free days for my thesis, additional activities, and social life. I’m excited for my planned summer trip to Bergen, Norway!

– What advice do you have for students wanting to get more involved in university life?

 – Listen to lecturers, follow faculty social media for key info, and apply to scientific associations – the next recruitment for the Finance and Insurance Scientific Association is coming soon. I encourage everyone to join!

– Thank you for the interview! Your activity and dedication can inspire many of our students!
